Mid-Century-Modern Styling that is Upgraded for Our Time. Glad I Found This!
I just recently received the “O’Bright Cascade Floor Lamp,” and I couldn’t wait to assemble it. I ordered it soon after I saw it advertised on Amazon. Mostly, I like the styling, with the cascading, wooden lampshade. It reminds me of a floor lamp that my parents had in their living room many years ago. I’m a fan of Mid-Century-Modern design, especially when the more modern styling can complement contemporary decor.The so-called “wooden” shade is not actually made of wood. I’d be disappointed if it were actually constructed from wood, which could more easily be damaged, warp, or crack. This shade is made of a thick plastic, although it does appear to be wood, even up close.If you’re looking for a reading lamp that could be placed next to a chair, this lamp probably shouldn’t be your first choice. The layered shade limits the amount of light reflected downward. It would be more suitable as an accent or area lamp, intended for softly illuminating an area of a room, while adding significant ambience in the process. At the same time, it would be a better choice for illuminating a room than a typical torchiere floor lamp, which directs most of its lighting toward the ceiling.This lamp has a pull chain (see my photo), which I like. I’d like it even more if the lamp had a three-way socket. The base is heavy, and heavy enough that you should carry the lamp mainly by holding the base, not the attached rod. Another feature that I greatly appreciate is the vintage-styled cord (see photo), which is covered with a fabric rather than plastic. This is an especially nice touch on a high-quality floor lamp that I know we’ll enjoy for years to come.

Sleek MCM Lamp
This is a great floor lamp that’s in the Mid-Century Model style. I got it because sometimes I do paperwork in my living room and the overhead I have in there is not bright enough for my middle aged eyes. I put this next to my favorite recliner and it provides good (but not harsh) illumination.PROS:+ Fun and unique look, in the MCM style+ Sleek with a slim footprint+ Lightbulb is up-facing, which provides indirect (or “ceiling-bounce”) lighting. This is softer, more diffuse, and less harsh than direct lighting. It also means that there are no shadows on your paperwork, which is a bigger and bigger deal for me as I age.+ Solid well-made metal frame with a weighted base. This lamp stays in place.+ Wooden shade means my cat doesn’t try to scratch it!+ Pull chain is thicker than standard and easy to grab. (I hate toe switches because they can be hard to get to…)+ Super easy “assembly”. Just screw the pole pieces together and screw one part of the shade (screws included). 10 minutes.BOTTOM LINE: Solid and well made, this MCM floor lamp provides a fun look and soft indirect lighting. Love it.

A work of art
I am in the process of redecorating my bedroom and was thinking that I need a new floor lamp that is unique but also matches the color scheme and this lamp just appeared. I immediately knew I had to order it. It is exactly what I needed. The base and the stem are both a matte black with brass accents near the shade and the pull chain. I have two brass sconces on the opposite wall from the lamp, so I like how the brass on this lamp is just an accent as it ties them together without so much brass.But the lamp shade is the centerpiece. I have never seen anything like it, and it is beautiful. You would think wood would make a horrible lamp shade since light obviously doesnât pass through it, but the way the wood is positioned still directs light up and below the shade with a bright enough bulb as well. I think I will mainly use this lamp for the ambiance and not necessarily to light the room.

Not worth the cost
I really wanted to love this floor lamp. Unfortunately it is very wobbly. The weighted base has an area that is not weighted which inhibits it from standing straight. Also, even with a 60 watt daylight light bulb the lighting seems dim. Not worth the cost for what you get.

Love this lamp!
I requested this item because I needed an alternative for the harsh overhead light in my bedroom when I wanted to read in bed. Overhead lighting can give me migraines, so I was happy with the way this lamp diffuses light. Since the shade is tiered downward, it casts a glow rather than the bright cone of light above and below as a “normal” lampshade does. Of course, with the top of it open as it is the light hits the ceiling more strongly, so it still brightens a room. I use low wattage bulbs to help stave off headaches, so that could be a factor as to why I love it as well.The lamp is easy to assemble by yourself; just screw a few poles together and to the base, and secure the shade with the screws included. It’s very sturdy, doesn’t wobble and nothing about it feels cheap, in my opinion.Please excuse my curtains…finding light blocking ones that I love to cover four windows without breaking the bank can be tough lol

Gorgeous lamp! Beautiful, subtle wood grain in the shade.
I love this lamp! I was worried the wood rings of the shade would be thin like veneer, but they aren’t. I put a warm white bulb in it because I want to use it for soft ambient light while watching movies at night. I took my photo where it was standing as I assembled it, and turned all the other lights out. A brighter bulb would give off more light. Very nice quality and value and nicer than I expected. Edited to add that since I’ve been using it a few days, I love it so much that I ordered a second one. The warm gradient glow created by the layers of the shade have made this a favorite lamp for me.
