Product Overview

The Sangohe Heavy Duty Bed Rail – Model 504E is a thoughtfully engineered foldable bed assist handle designed specifically to prevent falls and support mobility for elderly individuals, seniors, post-surgery patients, and people with disabilities. Built with safety, durability, and ease of use in mind, this bed rail offers a reliable solution for anyone who struggles with getting in or out of bed independently or risks rolling off during sleep. The 504E stands out from traditional bed rails thanks to its innovative five-level leg height adjustment system, allowing it to adapt seamlessly to various bed frames and mattress thicknesses. Whether used at home, in assisted living facilities, or in rehabilitation settings, the Sangohe 504E provides peace of mind for both users and caregivers by promoting safe, confident movement during rest periods.

Key Features

  • Durable and Reliable Construction: Crafted with attention to detail, the 504E reflects Sangohe’s commitment to high-quality materials and professional manufacturing standards. Each unit undergoes strict quality control throughout production to ensure long-term performance and reliability for daily use.
  • Foldable Design for Convenience: Unlike fixed rails that permanently occupy space next to the bed, the 504E folds flat when not in active use. This feature keeps the sleeping area clear while ensuring the rail remains instantly accessible whenever support is needed—ideal for maintaining comfort without sacrificing accessibility.
  • Five-Level Leg Height Adjustment: One of the most distinguishing features of the 504E is its advanced adjustable leg mechanism. With five distinct height levels, users can customize the rail’s position to match their specific bed setup—whether they have a low-profile platform bed, a standard mattress, or an elevated hospital-style frame. This flexibility ensures optimal stability across a wide range of configurations.
  • Universal Application: Designed for diverse user needs, the 504E serves elderly adults, people recovering from surgery, individuals with physical disabilities, and those requiring extra support due to balance issues or reduced strength. Its adaptable design makes it suitable for private homes, nursing care environments, and transitional recovery spaces.
  • User-Centered Engineering: Developed based on real-world feedback from caregivers and end-users, the 504E addresses common concerns such as ease of access, secure grip, and simple installation. The result is a product that enhances independence without compromising safety.

Benefits & Use Cases

The primary benefit of the Sangohe 504E lies in its ability to significantly reduce nighttime fall risk—a serious concern for many elderly and mobility-challenged individuals. By providing a stable handhold, the rail empowers users to sit up, shift positions, or return to a safer sleeping posture without relying entirely on another person. This promotes greater independence and dignity during recovery or aging-in-place scenarios. Caregivers appreciate the rail’s foldable nature, which allows them to quickly deploy support when necessary without permanently altering room layout or obstructing movement.

Another key advantage is the five-level leg adjustment, which eliminates guesswork when matching the rail to different bed types. Traditional bed rails often require shims or padding to achieve proper fit, but the 504E’s mechanical system delivers precise alignment every time. This means improved stability, fewer wobbles, and enhanced confidence when reaching for support. Whether installed beside a king-size mattress, a twin bed, or a raised hospital cot, the rail maintains consistent performance and safety.

Sangohe’s dedication to quality extends beyond the product itself—each 504E unit is backed by rigorous testing and manufacturing oversight. While no explicit weight capacity is listed, the heavy-duty build suggests it supports typical adult usage. Regular maintenance checks are recommended to ensure all joints remain tight and legs stay securely adjusted.

Important Notes

The Sangohe 504E is intended solely for indoor residential or facility-based use and should be installed according to the provided instructions to guarantee maximum safety. Always verify compatibility with your specific bed frame and mattress before installation. The package includes only the adjustable bed rail; additional hardware or accessories are not specified. For best results, periodically inspect the folding mechanism, leg locks, and overall structure to confirm continued integrity and functionality.

  1. Well, I Tried

Easy to assemble and works well
For my husband, this works very well for him. He likes the adjustability of being able to raise and lower the “arm”. It also makes it easy to change sheets. We attached it to the metal frame of our bed with the included long strap. With that, the flat metal bar that goes under the mattress, and the adjustable legs, all make it feel solid when in use to get up out of bed. Well constructed and designed. The metal bar under the mattress is not felt at all. I think being flat is a bonus compared to models available with a round bar.

Five Minutes, No Tools, Need Hand Strength and Fine Motor Skills – It Works As Designed!
I assembled this for my husband within five minutes. Instructions are pretty clear. You have to manipulate rod ends into other rods ends and screw large plastic knobs to tighten. There were a couple of pieces left over, maybe duplicates? Not addressed in instructions. Large oval metal frame goes under mattress. Unit feet rest on floor. If you have a thin mattress or are very light weight, stability will be decreased. Your body weight on the mattress is what makes it stable. Horizontal length is adjustable. Very good product. Worth the money. Recommend.

Easy of use but too short
We have a tall platform bed with a thick mattress. I thought this would be a good fit but it was far too short. The top of the rail was barely above the top of the mattress which provided no protection from falling out of bed.I rigged up a spacer using 3/4″ copper pipe with a 6″ repair coupler to increase the height of the rail to be sufficiently above the top of the bed. The combination of the copper tubing and coupler creates a double walled spacer that is strong and will not bend. Too bad the manufacturer doesn’t provide something similar. Unfortunately, I ordered a different rail that would give the needed protection that I will not need now that I rigged this one.If not for this shortcoming, I’d give it 5 stars.

    Works well
We ordered this for my dad post rehab. This works well since it can fold down and he can sit down over top of this to be positioned correctly in bed. He has a sleep number bed so it had to be worked around the wires and sits further down the side of the bed than normal. Even when the bed is repositioned this is still sturdy enough to use. Husband said the directions about how to change it for the other side of the bed was difficult to follow but he figured it out. I like that it expands in length to prevent him from exiting the bed without someone present.

    Works wonderfully!
This product, the 504E works quite well in assisting me getting out of bed (I’m 73 years old).HOWEVER, I believe the company should Burn the Instruction booklet and hire someone who knows how to write instructions. I found it full of issues which caused me to take an unbelievable amount of time to assemble, as somethings quite necessary were NOT mentioned in the instructions. It was Only after watching the video did I learn why it wasn’t working as it should. This lead me to have to take it apart to correct the mistake that wouldn’t have happened if the instructions were Very Clearly Written!

    Shipment included the wrong parts
If you have the time and skill, this is a great product. I would give it 5 stars BUT. After getting my wife home from the hospital, it was very clear that I needed to get some bed rails to help keep her from falling out of bed. After looking and a bunch of them on Amazon and other sources, I settled on this one. I kept her wheelchair sideways by the bed as a temporary measure to help keep her in bed while we waited for delivery. The product arrived, undamaged and on time. That’s the good news. There is a sort of loop that you need to assemble. It slides underneath the mattress. There is a hex/allen wrench tool included. You use it to tighten three screws that are fitted with wing nuts. I am guessing that the tool is included so that you can tighten the screws more than you might with say a phillips head screw. Turns out the screws included are 1/4 24. The wing nuts included are 10/32. Nope those things don’t fit together. Additionally, 1/4 24 screws are two big to fit through the holes in the frame members. Since I really wanted this put together, I elected to go to a local hardware store in search of parts rather than use their customer service function. I have no direct experience with their customer service function and therefore cannot offer an opinion, good or bad. The hardware store did have some screws with hex heads in 10/32. Unfortunately the longest is 1 inch and the screws need to be 1 1/4. So, I ended up with phillips head screws and the included tool is worthless. My wife sleeps on the left side of the bed (standing at the front). The handrail comes partially assembled. Following the instructions, I assembled the unit only to find that when installed it collapses/folds toward the bed not the floor. The instructions do not address how to get the bedrail to fold the other direction. Initially, I installed it with the slanted portion of the handrail toward the feet rather than toward the head so that we could use it that night. The next day, I figured out how to switch it. The instructions have pictures of the handrail installed on the right side of the bed with the slanted portion pointing to the head. On the back of the instructions, there is a picture of the bed rail installed on the left side of the bed with the slanted portion facing the head. This was encouraging and I was eventually able to figure it out. One of the last things to do is to “insert part (K) into the corresponding hole” when connecting the handrail kit to the frame that goes to the floor and under the mattress. Nope. You get 4 part (K) (C-type buckle). Two of them are used to adjust the size of the handrail. Two are to fix the hand rail to the base. They fit the holes provided in the handrail but did not fit the holes in the base. Yes, I made sure the holes were properly aligned. I used a phillips screwdriver that is only slightly smaller than the holes. Finally, I used a drill to make the holes large enough to accept part (K). Now that it is assembled and we have used it for two days, I can truthfully say I like it. I would like the handrail to be a bit taller but this works. One more thing, the kit also included four 1 1/4 inch phillips head wood screws and a fabric strap with buckle. Have no idea what those are for. Nothing mentioned in the instructions. The instructions include “Tips: If you do not know how to install please see the installation video teaching; And if you have any questions please contact our customer service”. Video is not included. You can probably find it in the product info on Amazon or on YouTube. No idea how to contact customer service other than Amazon. Country of origin is not specified, but you probably can guess.

ALTHOUGH THIS PRODUCT IS GOOD FOR THE FACT THAT IT FOLDS DOWN, YET IT IS ONLY MADE IF YOU SLEEP ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE BED. AS I SLEEP ON THE RIGHT SIDE, IT MEANS THE RUBBER COATING IS FURTHEST AWAY AND THE LEVER TO FOLD DOWN THE PRODUCT IS ALSO FAR AWAY. THERE SHOULD BE A VERSION OF THIS RAILING MADE FOR THOSE WHO SLEEP ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BED

The product is really well made. It is relatively easy to put together and sturdy. If you are using this for the right side of the bed and the mattress is 10 inches deep or less it will work great. However for deep mattresses the rail comes up just a few inches over the mattress and unfortunately cannot be adjusted. The legs are adjustable. If you meet the criteria I recommend this but otherwise keep looking. I don’t know if there’s anything out there to fit a deep mattress so beware when you’re shopping for bed rails or bed assist items.
