Benefits & Use Cases

This Schlage Touch Deadbolt is best suited for front doors of single-family homes, townhouses, or rental units where secure, keyless access is desired. Homeowners appreciate not having to worry about lost keys or forgotten keychains—especially useful during early morning departures or late-night returns. The ability to grant temporary access to housekeepers, repair technicians, or visitors adds convenience without needing to be present. Because it operates electronically, it reduces wear on traditional locks and keys over time. While some customers note variability in perceived durability and functionality, the overall feedback highlights satisfaction with its appearance, code management, and build quality.

Important Notes

The Schlage BE375 requires four AA batteries to operate and should have backup power planning due to low-battery indicators and potential lockout if exhausted. No smart home integration or remote access via app is mentioned; this is a stand-alone mechanical-electronic hybrid lock. Installation requires basic tools and alignment with standard door prep, but no special skills are indicated. The product does not include batteries or installation hardware beyond the lock mechanism. Customers seeking advanced smart features like Wi-Fi connectivity or smartphone control may want to explore other models in the Schlage lineup.

Why Choose This Schlage Touch Deadbolt?

If you’re tired of fumbling for keys in your pocket or purse, especially when your hands are full or it’s dark outside, the Schlage BE375 offers a seamless alternative. Instead of relying on physical keys, you simply enter a personalized code using the intuitive touchscreen. This means no more lost keychains, no duplicate keys to carry, and no risk of being locked out due to misplaced keys. The lock also supports multiple user codes—up to ten total—so each family member can have their own private access code. That makes it easy to give trusted neighbors, cleaning services, or contractors temporary access without giving them anything they can lose or share accidentally.

One of the standout aspects of this deadbolt is its balance between form and function. The oil-rubbed bronze finish gives it a warm, sophisticated look that blends well with a wide range of architectural styles, from classic colonial to contemporary minimalist designs. It’s not just about looks, though—the Camelot series is known for sturdy construction and reliable operation year after year. Homeowners frequently mention how solid and well-made the feel is compared to cheaper alternatives, which speaks volumes about the materials and engineering behind the product.

Security-conscious buyers will appreciate knowing that this model meets ANSI Grade 1 standards—the highest tier for residential locks. That doesn’t mean it’s invincible, but it does guarantee that the lock has been rigorously tested for strength, durability, and resistance to common attack methods such as drilling, prying, or brute-force manipulation. Combined with a solid brass core and reinforced strike plate, it provides strong deterrence against would-be intruders. For peace of mind, that’s a significant advantage over lower-grade locks.

Another practical benefit is how straightforward programming and daily use are. Adding or changing codes takes only minutes through the simple menu system, and the backlit keypad makes entering codes easy even in low light. There’s also a manual override option—a physical keyway is hidden within the trim, so if batteries ever die or the electronics malfunction, you still have a backup way to unlock the door. However, it’s worth noting that this model isn’t part of a broader smart home ecosystem. Unlike some newer models with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connectivity, the BE375 operates entirely locally via code entry. There’s no mobile app, no remote locking/unlocking, and no integration with voice assistants or security systems.

Installation is designed to be DIY-friendly. Most homeowners can complete the job with common tools like a screwdriver and tape measure, provided their door already matches standard cylindrical lock prep dimensions. The adjustable backset accommodates both 2.375-inch and 2.75-inch configurations, increasing compatibility with older doors. However, if your door has nonstandard hardware or unusual thickness (outside the 1.375″ to 2″ range), minor adjustments may be needed. Professional installation isn’t required but is an option if preferred.

Because the lock runs on four AA batteries (sold separately), it’s important to monitor battery life and keep spares on hand. A low-battery warning appears on the display before failure occurs, giving you time to replace them before the lock becomes unresponsive. In rare cases where batteries die completely, the system may lock itself until fresh ones are installed—so plan accordingly during long periods away from home or if replacements aren’t readily available.

Overall, the Schlage BE375 CAM 619 strikes a thoughtful balance between modern convenience and enduring reliability. It won’t win awards for cutting-edge tech, but for those prioritizing simplicity, security, and timeless design, it remains a respected choice among homeowners and installers alike.

    nice design, easy to use
A well-priced electronic version from lock maker Schlage.Easy install- the parts actually line up more easily than some other brands of (regular) deadbolts, no fiddling to get things aligned, even with the addition of control wires routed through the door. I had to modify the deadbolt hole in the doorframe (which previously had a kwikset deadbolt) but that took just 5 minutes with a Dremel.Note that you need to use your own handle. Or buy the matching part.I use this on a secondary door since I prefer a keyed option for my main door. I had a pet-sitter use this mechanism for access without any confusion and never having seen it before, so it’s “easy” to use.Positives:* Simple mechanism (the deadbolt is hand-turned, no key) reduces chance of failure and uses less battery.* Locked mechanism feels “normal”. (doesn’t spin loosely like another Schlage version)* Long battery life if minimal usage.* Emergency access using a spare 9V if the battery fails (eg, carry one in your car or bag).* Cheaper than equivalent versions with electronic actuation or keyed access.* Looks pretty nice, needed minimal modification to install.* Good quality hardware other than battery cover.Negatives:* The battery cover is plastic and seems destined to break since it’s tight when removing/reinstalling* No keyed backup* Activity light doesn’t flash on every keypress making it hard to tell if you actually pressed the buttons* Code entry times out *fast* and it’s unclear how long to wait until trying again. Not a problem if you have it memorized, but if you were consulting your phone or trying to remember the longer programming code, you may end up trying several times* It’s easy to accidentally pinch the power wires when installing the battery, a cable clip or guide inside the battery cover would have made replacement easierOverall: Works great. Recommended.

    SCHLAGE TOUCH CAMELOT DEADBOLT
This is my favorite push-button lock, we have installed them on multiple homes. We have this lock on all the exit doors in our house and garage….they never disappoint. My husband installs the deadbolt and the matching Schlage door lever. He says installation is easy and fast.

Stopped work after a few years! Not a battery issue!
We bought this in 2023 and it worked great for the first 2 years, but after a while the lock wouldn’t properly unlock. We would put in the code and try to unlock it, for it to just spin around like it was trying to catch something and just slip past. This became a very big deal for my home because we would use a flip latch on our back door and if we couldn’t get in the front, we would be completely locked out of our house. I do not recommend this lock.

    Wish the numbers light up
Great so far. Works very well It would be nice if the keypad would light up. Hard to see it after dark. Quality is good and installation a snap. Keypad feel when entering numbers is not great and easy to mispunch numbers. Overall happy with the quality exceptions listed above

    Just what I needed …
I recently moved into a new house and decided to try a “keyless” deadbolt lock. I’m getting to an age where I find myself fumbling for my keys while navigating a rollator to get into the house — keyless would make life a lot easier. This seemed like a good solution — a touchpad that I could easily manage. Installation was a piece of cake — no, I didn’t do it myself, but the locksmith had it in and working in less than 15 minutes. I love that I can have multiple codes (I’m letting those who need to gain entry choose their own code so it’s easy for them to remember). So far, no glitches.

Very Attractive, Simple to Use, Easy Install, Safe
Very attractive and simple operation. Installed quickly into existing door. Can be a godsend if you lock your keys in your car! No need to use a passcode to lock when exiting (although you can activate this feature). To lock, just press the Schlage button and turn the deadbolt when leaving. Since a key is not required, “bumping” is not possible. Works great for my garage entry door since I keep it locked when doing things in the yard — and I’m unlikely to have my keys. I saw the review that it can be drilled, but that is possible with most locks, as is the use of dynamite, an axe or a sledge hammer. I’m sure breaking glass is even easier. We have a good alarm system with monitoring to further protect our home. The keypad is lighted in case your area is dark. We paired it with a quality, matching Schlage handle in nickel satin, so it looks great. See our photo.

    Substantial and Easy to install
The lock was more substantial than the Schlage lock it replaced. It was also easier to install. So far it is working well. The only problem during installation was arranging the electrical wires so that they were not crimped when putting the cover on. I was skeptical about this unit not having a key in case of failure of the lock mechanism but I have other doors that do have keys to enter the house.

Best home improvement for under $150!
Best home improvevent ever done for under 150! Lock works great, looks great, awesome not using any key especially when leaving the house with hands full or coming home with groceries; don’t have to dig in pockets for keys. Now my car aND my home are keyless. If I owned rental properties this would be a must as with the master code you can addo and delete other user codes when you change tenants you would not need to change locks. Also it’s impossible to lock your self out because there’s no keys. Lock has built in low battery warning signs and ability to give it a jump incase battery dies. One word of advice, if the low battery light comes on, go to the store and spend $2 on a 9 volt battery, easy fix. This is the only schlage deadbolt lock that fit in between my storm door. Lock knob extends a total of 1.5 inches from the door on exterior side. Again, awesome buy, can’t go wrong with schlage and if I every move it would be my first purchase

It is not a new product. Although it was stated New in the product description. Bolt length is NOT adjustable. Items are missing. Missing items: strike plate, reinforcement plate, screws. Now I understand why there were some reviews saying the product was either not working at all or failed after installed for a while. Rejected products were recycled, I guessed.Delivery was a nightmare.First received message that it was delivered but it was not true. After finding some excuses from Amazon, re-deliver again and finally received. Before I received the re-deliver items, Amazon asked for return of the items which I have not received. What an amazing logistics!!!First time try Amazon after buying from many other online platforms for so many years. What an unforgettable experience!

Everything works, I saw reviews from 2018 about drilling the lock, not applicable anymore, Schlage fixed the vulnerability, you can see the screw on the right bottom was moved slightly to accommodate the anti drilling plate. Also somebody mentioned pitching the wire with the deadbolt moving mechanism, that is fixed too, there is a plastic sleeve guiding the wire on my locks, 2021 models. So far so good, installed easy and love everything about the lock. Backup open method, no keys, no wifi or BT to mess with, solid lock. I bought 3.

Easy to install and nice big numbers. I really like the light goes on if I press the Schlage logo above the numbers when coming home in the dark.

I am very happy with this electronic deadbolt. I like being able to go for a run without bringing keys with me. installation is fairly easy. it takes a few minutes to enter new codes in to the system, but as long as you can follow instructions it is not difficult. I use a couple different codes, just so the same buttons aren’t always being pushed.
