Product Overview
The SEI Furniture Terrarium Display Console Table is a thoughtfully designed piece that merges modern aesthetics with practical functionality. Featuring a striking black metal frame accented by a silver distressing finish, this console table draws inspiration from industrial design while remaining versatile enough to suit a range of interior styles—from contemporary minimalism to rustic farmhouse charm. The centerpiece of the design is its terrarium-style compartment, complete with clear glass panels and magnetic door closures, creating an inviting space to display indoor plants or cherished keepsakes. Whether placed in a living room, entryway, or hallway, this table transforms ordinary spaces into vibrant, nature-inspired environments.
Crafted for both beauty and durability, the console table utilizes high-quality materials such as tube metal, reinforced iron sheet, and 5mm tempered glass. These components ensure long-lasting performance while maintaining a refined appearance. The open-front terrarium allows easy access for plant care, while two strategically placed ventilation holes promote healthy airflow—essential for thriving low-light houseplants like snake plants, pothos, succulents, and small cacti. Beyond gardening, the enclosed space doubles as discreet storage for seasonal decor, books, or sentimental items, making it a functional yet stylish addition to any home.
Weighing approximately 47 pounds and requiring assembly, this console table balances sturdiness with manageable weight for most indoor settings. Its compact footprint—just 42.5 inches wide—makes it ideal for narrow entryways or tight spaces where larger furniture might feel overwhelming. Despite its modest size, the table offers generous storage with two metal shelves and a spacious terrarium compartment measuring 40.75″ W x 13.25″ D x 9″ H. The top surface provides ample room for decorative objects, while the interior supports up to 50 pounds, allowing for heavier planters or grouped arrangements.
Key Features
- Terrarium-Style Design: The innovative two-door setup uses magnetic closures for secure yet effortless access. This feature ensures plants remain protected while enabling regular maintenance routines. The included ventilation holes allow fresh air circulation, promoting healthier root systems and overall plant vitality.
- Premium Construction: Built with durable tube metal, 5mm tempered glass, and a reinforced iron base, this console table withstands daily use without compromising on visual appeal. The materials are selected not only for strength but also for their ability to resist wear, moisture, and fading over time.
- Universal Black & Silver Finish: The distressed silver finish applied over a black frame creates a timeless look that adapts seamlessly to various décor themes. Slight variations in the finish are natural due to the hand-applied process, giving each piece its own unique character without affecting structural integrity.
- Optimized Plant Environment: Designed specifically for low-light conditions, the terrarium section accommodates small to medium-sized plants that thrive indoors. Ideal candidates include potted succulents, air plants, peace lilies, and spider plants. The enclosed space reduces evaporation and protects roots from temperature fluctuations.
- Reinforced Shelving System: Two sturdy metal shelves support everyday items or additional planters. To protect both the shelves and your floors, it’s recommended to line them before placing anything inside. Shelf liners, felt pads, or even decorative trays can enhance protection and organization.

Benefits & Use Cases
This console table excels in versatility, serving dual purposes as both a decorative focal point and a functional storage solution. Its terrarium feature encourages mindful engagement with indoor gardening, making it perfect for beginners or seasoned plant enthusiasts who want a low-maintenance setup. The magnetic doors provide peace of mind in households with pets or young children, preventing accidental opening while still offering quick access when needed.
In practical terms, the console table fits beautifully in transitional zones such as foyers, hallways, or behind sofas where space is limited but style matters. Unlike traditional furniture, it doesn’t just sit—it interacts with its surroundings, inviting conversation through its living elements. The combination of open shelving and an enclosed terrarium allows for creative layering: stack books and candles on the upper shelves while showcasing greenery below. During colder months, the table can also display holiday ornaments or seasonal accents within the terrarium, extending its utility year-round.
For those who value sustainability and biophilic design—the practice of integrating nature into built environments—this piece supports well-being through visual connection to plants. Studies suggest that indoor greenery reduces stress, improves air quality, and enhances mood. By choosing a product that prioritizes both form and function, you’re investing not only in aesthetics but also in a healthier lifestyle.
Important Notes
- The distressed silver finish is intentionally aged to achieve a vintage-industrial look. Minor inconsistencies are expected and contribute to the authentic character of the piece—they do not indicate defects.
- Always line metal shelves with non-slip materials before placing items directly on them. This prevents scratches, stains, and corrosion, especially if using ceramic or terracotta pots that may retain moisture.
- Designed exclusively for indoor use. Avoid direct sunlight exposure, which can scorch plants and fade finishes over time. Similarly, high-humidity environments like bathrooms should be avoided unless using humidity-loving species and monitoring conditions closely.
- Assembly is required upon delivery. Follow provided instructions carefully, and ensure all screws and fasteners are tightened securely to maintain stability.
- Respect stated weight limits: 30 pounds on the flat top surface and 50 pounds within the terrarium compartment. Overloading risks damage to the structure or compromised safety.
- While the tempered glass is impact-resistant, treat it gently during assembly and avoid slamming the magnetic doors to prolong lifespan.

PERFECT FOR MY TERRARIUM!!!
So I wanted to create a terrarium and I couldnât find a clear display coffee table. This table worked out perfectly. It was very easy to setup and it didnât take long at all. It looks absolutely beautiful and I love that itâs metal. It has two doors to put items in and itâs tempered glass as well. I definitely recommend this table for all purposes.

Excellent Habitat with a Little Thought
I use this table for my Costa Rican poison dart frogs. I was worried about the weight of the soil and rocks so used green floral foam under the rocks to lighten the load, plantings are in regular 13X9″ glass cake pans for easy watering without leaks, silicone keeps the rocks from falling out when I open the doors, and I plugged up the two holes in the back. There is no gap between my doors but there is where the hinges are. Black weather stripping blends right in to keep small critters where they belong. There is about a half inch gap at the top for ventilation. My frogs don’t jump high or climb so not an issue for me. Stands up to my Newfoundland constantly beating it with his tail so far and gets bumped A LOT when my dogs play. It is more sturdy than it looks but not sure I would let a small child play around it.

Worth the cost!
I didnât read the instructions thoroughly when I started assembly, so I had to take off and move the legs a couple times. But once itâs together itâs sturdy! Iâm using it as a terrarium type table for my needy plants. There are gaps for airflow but Iâll also open the doors every so often. Each plant is in its own pot, you wouldnât be able to use the table as a planter without some serious adjustments. But itâs really nice and I love it! I added an LED for some easy night time viewing.

Spacious and fictional, but…
I won’t lie: this wasn’t what I had in mind for a display coffee table, but I couldn’t find any wooden types available at the time. I was nervous about this much glass being shipped, but it came very securely packaged with nothing damaged. It took me about an hour to assemble the whole thing. For the most part, everything is as I hoped it would be… except the doors. They’re so heavy, they repeatedly slipped out of their hardware. And although this is clearly tempered glass, I was fearful of turning the screws much tighter for fear of cracking it. They definitely need a redesign for the doors that doesn’t involve tension on the glass. It’s a nice looking unit with plenty of space to display whatever you want. I would NOT recommend this to anyone with children or people who treat their furnishings mindlessly. I doubt this piece will last, and its biggest weakness IS those doors. They absolutely will NOT take any extra tugging or weight.I can’t for the life of me understand why they mention fish in the description. This is not watertight in any sense of the word, and it’s not sturdy enough to hold anything more than a fishbowl, so please don’t buy it for that.

Best price on the internet.
Wow, this is a very good product. Very easy to put together. We searched all over the place for this and this was the best deal. I saw multiple of these on Walmart, Target, overstock, Etc. They are all exactly the same dimensions and descriptions but rebranded. This was the best one in terms of price. Metal does have a silver distressed look so if you’re not into that you would want to steer away or paint it black before you assemble it. There are gaps between the glass in the metal so if you’re planning to put sand or rocks in it, you might have to get creative. It is a pretty good centerpiece for my kids Lego sets.

Everything about this is a nightmare
Normally I can handle picture directions very well … sometimes it take a couple tries, but overall not too hard with reliable pictures. This is simply a disaster. I had it almost all together and then had to resemblance over 3X! The legs are off balance which makes it a real pain to put the top frame in, and it’s incredibly unstable, especially for live animals. The glass doesn’t fit snuggly in before putting the top in either, so highly recommend not doing it alone in case a glass piece falls. I’ve been working on this thing for 2 days. I keep getting frustrated. I’m at the front door part. The front glass panels DO NOT slide in to fit, as picture shows. I’m terrified I’m going to break the thin glass. I may have to take all the glass walls off and use a hammer to fix the mistakes to get the front glass doors to slide in. Oh, and 2 of the 4 pieces of glass came with scratch marks, one which is atleast 5″ long! That I was going to let slide…until I noticed how much of a pain this is. Not worth the money at all. I was using this as a memorial for my dog that just passed away, but I’m terrified to put his ashes in this, and it’s highly disappointing. I give 1 star because yes, it’s exactly as pictured…if I could get it all together.

Very nice piece.
This was easy to assemble.Do not tighten all your screws until last, so you make sure everything is lined up.The glass is solid, I had read some reviews that it was thin, this is not the case.I did paint it, as my wife wanted it to match the existing theme in my daughters room.We are using it as a gecko enclosure for about 4 months now without any issues.I was on the fence after reading some of the reviews and not knowing if it would work for our purposes, but its fine. Made the right decision and would buy again for sure.

Hard to assemble. The door is pretty uneven.Assemble instructions leave some key points out of the document.
