Amazing barn door hardware for the price!
This kit is so amazing. For the price, you can’t beat it. I made a new door for my deck, and it was WAY too heavy for hinges, so I decided to go this route, and it worked out great. I love that it comes with a piece for the bottom to slide along, so it doesn’t just “hang loosely” Very easy assembly. Template is great, and accurate for drilling holes. Only thing I’ve noticed is that it’s already starting to rust. I wish the hardware was powder coated, or stainless steel. Might need to be painted if the rust continues. Overall, 5 stars.

All in all, it was exactly what I needed, but, it takes some thinking to install this, especially if you don’t have an 8 foot header. You have to reinforce the wall where the holes are in the door hanger will secure to the wall I was able to do this for my shed as I had access behind the wall, but if you doing this on drywall, you may have to remove some drywall to reinforce between the studs. Also the metal screws suck – they are very cheap metal and one broke with very little torque. This could have caused a lot of issues in removing a fat screw embedded deep in a stud, but fortunately there was enough sticking out I could grab it with a plyers and screw the broken part out. Don’t over torque the screws! I used a thick plywood door, so my dimensions were different that the instructions (which were scant). Just lay everything out BEFORE you start – especially before you start drilling holes and cutting the door. There are many ways to set up your door. Please note that once installed you can simply lift the entire door off the rail – it’s not secure at all (if using on an outside shed or barn). So if you want to secure it (many methods), I installed a long 2×4 over the rail rollers (with maybe a 2-3mm of room), so it had room to slide, but you could NOT lift the door off the railing, as it would hit the 2×4. You also need to make/add some fasteners on the lower corners to keep someone from pulling the door outwards from the bottom. I’ll try to add some photos of my project – while it’s a bit of a DIY, you will get the idea and can make yours better or out of metal – I just used what I had available at the time. Keep in mind, if someone wants in, they can pry about anything off, but this keeps the riff raft out. The latch was NOT included, I added it. The only thing I used from the kit was the rail, rollers, rail stoppers, vertical metal bar fasteners (2x) and door handle, but this was what I needed. I did have to buy a new lag screw to replace the broken one as well.

I built a door and hung it using this complete kit
This barn-door kit is solid. Good heavy metal. And the kit is complete with the rack, rollers, hardware, handles and floor stop. I decided to build a door from a plank of wood. I wanted the sliding door method rather than a swinging door. This kit was great.I was very pleased with the solid feel of all the parts. It has stops on the ends of the rail so you can adjust the door travel. The floor plate keeps the door from swinging away from or into the wall.The one thing I didn’t really like was the rail came in sections, rather than one long piece. Since I am a one-man-band, mounting the rail was a bit tricky balancing the sections while keeping it level and mounting it with only two hands. I managed, but a one-piece rail would have been better. I am not sure if it was the way I mounted the rail or not, but the door does bump as it goes over the various section cracks. Nothing that I will fix, but a one-piece rail would not have that issue. Maybe the bumping makes it more reminiscent of an old barn door.

Looks nice! Until you find out it is missing parts yet again…
I have not yet installed the product so I wouldn’t usually write a review this early. I am writing this as an open the box kind of review. Most of the hardware that is included looks nice durable with the exception being some of the screws that appear to be on the short and flimsy side. I can imagine they are for the recessed handle and probably aren’t a big deal. The reason for the the two stars is that I ordered two of these kits and one of those two was missing both handles and the locking latch! I returned it and requested a replacement be sent. It showed up promptly within a couple of days or so, and upon opening, it too was missing all of the exact same parts. I returned and re-ordered again only to receive a kit missing the same parts again. That is three of four ordered that are missing parts. Why haven’t I installed yet? Well it seems too much to ask that I receive the entire product I ordered. I would be more than happy if I had received it as it should be. Clearly the quality control at the packing location for this company is a joke, now I’m afraid to order another one and risk delaying my renovation even longer. Product seems decent, risk of not getting what you order is extremely high. My advice is to find a different company if you want your project to get done on time or perhaps ever. I removed the missing parts from my full kit to show what the other three looked like before I sent them back. I’m seriously put out by the incompetence, and you may be too if you order this product.

I was looking for a sliding door for a bathroom. I found this barn door hardware and ordered it. I purchased a WPC door and installed it with a local carpenter. It took nearly a day, as it was the first time for me and the carpenter. Any way finally, the door got installed and moved smoothly. The sliding mechanism is smooth.
