Great looking lock with all of the features
The Yosimika Smart Door Lock is very nice. Easily control your lock without keys. Good looking. Strong and sturdy. Just like you want for your lock.The lock has a full suite of the usual modes: Fingerprint, ekeys, key fob, passcodes, and unlock with an app. There are even two physical keys included. I doubt that we will ever use the physical keys.Installation is simple – if you already have experience changing locks and have the correct cutouts in the door. It took me about two hours to install. Mainly because my previous lock did not have the same size hole, and I wanted to see if this would work in the smaller opening. No such luck. I had to disassemble, drill the proper sized hole, and assemble again. I also did not reset my lock BEFORE I installed everything. Read the instructions – they are actually well written. The following are my notes for how you can get this done much faster than my pace:* Remove your old lock. Measure the opening. If smaller than 2-1/8″ diameter, this is the perfect time to fix. I used a 2-1/2″ hole saw.* Make sure that you add batteries and reset the lock BEFORE you install. You need to do this to make the device available for pairing to your phone. The actual pairing is done with the TRLOCK app.* The deadbolt lock is simple to install. Make sure that you pass the control wire below the latch. Like every other lock, the hard part is properly connecting the two long screws that hold the front and back panels together. Prepare the lock for left or right opening, connect the control wire and finish putting together.* The door handle lock requires an extra screw to hold in place. Be sure to use the template to mark where the hole is needed.* The lock uses the common TRLOCK app. There are tons of features included. Some of the features that should be standard require a yearly fee. For example, a subscription is required to have the lock send an email if the battery runs low. Or grouping this lock with another smart door lock requires a subscription. I do not want to have yet another subscription, so I just watch my devices for battery status (batteries do last a fairly long time). Instead of grouping locks I import settings from one lock to another. Even with importing, you need to separately program fingerprints individually for each lock.* Door lock gateway. Don’t forget that your lock is limited to Bluetooth distance. If you want to remotely control your lock, you must purchase a gateway. Just look up ‘trlock gateway’. I find it very useful to be able to control our locks remotely. I purchased one gateway, and have it placed within Bluetooth distance of both doors where I have smart locks. If your locks are far from each other, you can purchase additional gateways. Installing gateways are simple. Once installed, choose to associate with the lock and turn on in the settings ‘Remote Unlock’.* I really like the auto-lock function. After being unlocked, it will automatically lock after a specified timeout. The one problem with this feature is that the lock is not knowledgeable if the door is closed or open. So, if someone leaves the door open, the lock will happily engage the lock anyhow.The Yosimika Smart Door Lock is full of features, looks great, and does a great job helping to secure your home.

Works as expected, but need gateway for Alexa
I was updating the lock on my backdoor. I’m often working in the backyard without my keys. That means I have to go back through the front door to either get my keys or unlock, often tracking mud through the house. I wanted something I could unlock without keys so I got this to try.It took me about 45 minutes to install on a door that already had a deadbolt and handle. Be sure to read the directions carefully before installing. It would have been faster because I had to take it apart again about halfway through.Everything runs through the app on your phone and you have to be next to the lock when using the app. It says it integrates with Alexa, but that requires purchase of a gateway.Once it’s installed and the app is connected, it is pretty intuitive after reading through the directions once.I like that you can set it up to lock itself after a few seconds. This means the door is always locked except for a few seconds after you unlock it. That’s nice because you don’t have to remember to check it before you leave.The keys are non standard, at least not for the United States. They are some sort of laser cut key. If I want to install a similar lock on the side and front doors, I have no control over they keys. They might each be different. I was hoping the key would be standard and I could have a locksmith switch to match my other doors. Maybe I still can, but I don’t think it would be simple. This is just something to keep in mind. Before installing this lock, my outside doors were all keyed the same.I haven’t tried the fingerprint mode and I’m not sure I will try that since I use this door when doing yard work and will likely have dirty hands.I did use the card reader to link one of the included cards. I couldn’t enroll my work ID, so I’m not sure what protocol it uses.Because you have to be right next to the lock to use the app, I’m not too concerned about security. Someone could break the window and physically unlock so nothing is truly secure. So the only way to unlock is to be physically present.Overall, this is a good lock for a backdoor, garage door, or side door. I wouldn’t install it on my main door.
