Q: How to ensure the stability and safety of the door?

2 * Door Stoppers: Two door stoppers slide along the rail and tighten down at any point to stop your door exactly where you want, and they’re cushioned by rubber caps for a quiet close.

1 * Floor Guide: A T-shaped floor guide is supplied (with anchors) to prevent the door from swinging out or up against the baseboard.

2 * Anti-jumpers- those little round discs- go on top of the door and won’t allow door to be lifted off rail unless they’re turned.

22

Q: When do you need a headboard?

a. If the studs don’t line up with the pre-drilled holes in the rail.

b. If there is a doorway trim.

And “door depth” plus “trim depth” is greater than 2”

Q: How much space do I need above the doorway?

A: You will need a minimum of 6″ from the top of your door to the ceiling (or crown molding, if any) for this kit to fit correctly.

33

Q: How thick of a door will this kit work with?

A: There are solutions for any thickness of door! The bolts included for attaching the hangers to the door support a thickness range of 1 3/8″ to 1 3/4″, but this can be easily navigated by countersinking the bolt head into the back side of the door, or by picking up 4 longer bolts from your local hardware store. The other thing affected by a thicker door is the spacing needed between the door and wall (or baseboard/doorway trim). Plug in your door depth and trim depth below:

2”- door depth – trim depth

If your answer is 0 or greater, then you’re fine. If your answer was negative, then that number is the extra spacing you need. This extra spacing is accomplished by bolting a header board to the studs, and then the rail to this header board.

    Amazing quality DYI door
This door is amazing quality wood, easy to follow directions and assembly. One issue, we did not receive the correct size rail, but it still worked for us. The rail went up with no issues and the door slides with ease. Good quality heavy hardware- esthetically pleasing! Also, for all the DYI’ers we needed a slightly shorter door, we were able to customize it to make it fit with ease. Great buy worth every dollar!

    Better than expected
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this item. It’s better than items usually “made in China“. The instructions are exceptional, the English is really solid and the measurements are all in inches.I am including a snapshot of page 2 of the instructions that I thought would have been helpful to see before I purchased the hardware. It lays out all the requirements for clearances. You will want to check to make sure that if your floor is sloped somewhat, that you plan for the proper floor to door clearance on the tight end so that your door will not bind when rolled that direction. It goes without saying if you follow the directions, but you will want the rail to be level instead of parallel to the floor.

Nice solution, but not for the faint of heart. Questionable parts quality.
First of all, we really like the look and function of the rolling hardware. Would we buy again, yes! However, the installation is not for someone who thinks they’ll just drill a few holes and slap it up on the wall. We bought two sets that spanned a total of 20ft. Each of the two doors weighed about 85lbs. One set of tracks matched up to the studs behind the sheetrock really well. One did not match any of the pre-existing holes with studs behind the wall. Now that was NOT the manufacturer’s fault. My house was just built by someone who could not measure very well. And, it was far from easy to drill new holes in the steel. My biggest piece of advice….get and use a level at every step along the way. Check it, then check it again, then check it again….at every step along the way.The instructions were straightforward and easy to follow along. The packaging and layout of the hardware were well done. However, two of the bolts that held the rollers to the barn door stripped out once we applied the hex nut to the end of the bolt – meaning, there was nothing to screw into. I replaced the bolts, but it was impossible to find black and metric bolts to match what came in the package. So, I’m currently stuck with silver bolts/nuts in two places. If the manufacturer wants to send me new hardware, I’ll be happy to adjust the Value for Money rating to 5/5.

Excellent quality, looks nice and reasonably priced.
I built my husband a barn door for his man cave for Christmas and used this hardware kit to hang the door. The door i built was 49″×82″ and 1.5″ thick at the edges so it was pretty heavy and needed a good rail to hold it. I think this rail is rated for up to 250 lb door.I opted to install a header board into the studs then mount the rail on the header board. (Also the rail is predrilled so if you have an older house the holes may not line up exactly with the spacing of your wall studs.) Using a header board worked out great, the door is well supported. It looks nice, and complements the door wood. The door glides smoothly on the rollers and the track stops have rubber cushions so the door opens and closes softly.I did not like the floor guide thats included because you have to groove the bottom of the door for it to work. This was not a good option for the way i constucted my door. I would recommend picking up a wheel floor guide, it works out so much better and theres no need to groove the door or drill into your flooring.

Still had to drill my own holes, but learn from my mistake
I have a 30″ arched doorway in my master bedroom that I needed to enclose to the master bathroom. Since it was so narrow I didn’t want to put a door there, and it would had to have been custom made. I decided to do a barn door to cut down on the noise my wife makes getting ready in the morning. I built the door and needed hardware to hang it. The big box home improvement stores sell kits for $150+. There is absolutely no reason to spend the money on those, when this is half the price and functions exactly the same. Due to the stud location on the wall, I was not able to hit studs where the factory holes were. It would have pushed the bar too far down and wouldn’t have been able to open the door the whole way. Here is where I made my mistake. I decided to drill new holes to line up with my studs and it worked fine. I have extra holes, but nobody has noticed them so it’s not a huge deal. An even better way to do it, is to use a 1x backer for the bar to mount to. You can go to your local home improvement and pick up a piece of 1×6 (or any width you want). You mount the 1x backer to your wall and attach it to studs. Since the 1x is on the wall, you can mount the bar to that instead. 1x will have the strength to support your door easily since it’s mounted to studs (I would use 3″ high quality exterior screws two per stud.) I do plan to take mine down and do something similar so it matches the trim in my room. I like the hardware because it’s very quiet, very heavy duty, and significantly cheaper than anywhere else. I did not use the guide for the door because I didn’t want to drill in my new wood floors. I ended up buying a barn door wheel and having it modified to work for me. The guide would probably work great if you can use it. Just keep in mind you will need to run your door down the table saw to get a groove in it for the guide. It’s actually pretty easy to do.

    Awesome slider for the money
Used on our homemade greenhouse, went together perfectly and is holding a 40lb wood and glass door. Slides like butta baby.Chose this as we live in a deep snow zone, instead of shoveling a ton of snow to open a standard door, we’ll only need to create a channel if we need to get inside.
