I concur with the other reviewers who’ve had issues with the piston not activating upon completion of set up. To circumnavigate this issue, do not add the part (with the handle) that connects to the bottom of the cushion when the directions say. Instead, add that part to the piston unit and activate the piston (with the handle) to raise to it’s highest height. Then screw the seat on, as the last step. Otherwise you will have to disengage the seat (not easy, once in place) if the handle doesn’t activate the piston… neither of mine did. Other than this issue, the quality is good. I’d have given it five stars if not for the flawed set up.

Almost five stars…. UPDATED
Looking good… and assembly was going so well… until the absolute last step placing the seat onto the base; then the pressured cylinder could not be activated by the release handle because it bottoms out against the seat ring before activating the piston. Other than this, these stools would have earned five stars. For the price, they look good, are comfortable, don’t wobble (after simple adjustment), and are reasonably sturdy and well-made.In the end, we had to disassemble the seat from the base (which is a bit of a pain since it’s a taper fit to the gas cylinder). Removal of the adjustment mechanism and appropriate bending of the handle fixed the issue. In case this might happen to you, I recommend to extend the gas piston (which raises the seat) before assembling. This then allows enough room to swing a rubber mallet to separate the seat from the base if it’s necessary. Both of the stools had this issue, and both responded after reshaping the handle.If you’re a little handy, go for it. If not, maybe give the manufacturer some time to adjust their tolerances so the stool reliably functions. Once the cylinder actuation issue is resolved, these are a good value.UPDATE: two months and one of the gas cylinders has failed (-1star). Will contact manufacturer for a replacement.

Oh WOW… I really like this company, it’s the second time I bought something from them, first was some small cabinet shelves. Everything is made so well. Good instructions, easy to put together (kinda lol)These are sturdy, the padding for the seat are so comfortable and appears to be leather, hydraulics to move up/down work smoothly.They are pure quality, a bit on the heavy side making them really stable as well.I spent a lot of time researching many item’s before making my choice…. I’m sure glad I did!
