Looks nice, easy to hang
The most important feature to point out is that the instructions are clear, thorough, and written by someone who has native-level proficiency in English. I was able to get this shelf on the wall in about 15 minutes, tops. It looks nice and is reasonably sturdy. CAUTION: Don’t even try to use the crap wall anchors included in the kit. They’re brittle and fall apart when you try to tap them into the wall. Other than that, it’s a great product.

I bought these for a very small bathroom with no cabinet space. I was tired of putting things on the back of the toilet and another cabinet over the toilet would dwarf the room. They are just short enough that they don’t stick out past where the cabinet is. We put them in a stud only because we didn’t want them falling if some of the stuff put on them was too heavy. They seemed a bit wobbly, but it think it’s because you put the hardware up and then these tubes stick out and you slide the shelf on them. I’m pretty confident that they’ll hold up. They really transformed the bathroom. I’ve included the before and after pictures.

Reliable but can stain
Iâve had these over a year and theyâve been sturdy and reliable. I have one in a living room and one in a bathroom. I havenât overloaded them with heavy things, but have a small plant and several pictures on mine. Downsize is the material seems to stain. The shelf in the bathroom is stained by spilled makeup.

terrible, wobbly, difficult to install, wrong hardware, floating bars bent
Do not buy these shelves!!! I bought 3 sets and would have returned them as soon as I opened them because the hardware in each set was wrong – the wrong screws and anchors for what needed to be installed. I tried to return these but the 30-day return window had passed by 2 weeks. So, I was stuck, I did everything I could to make them work. I bought new hardware. The supporting bars on a 6 shelves were so bent that it was impossible to get the shelves level. Plus the screws to anchor the shelf to the supporting bar were too small and do not hold the shelf. It took us hour to install 6 shelves – and they all ended up wobbly and out of level. Amazon should never offer such a shoddy product!

It’s Tough to Defy Gravity
It’s called a “floating” shelf because it looks like it defies gravity, sticking straight out of the wall with nothing to support it. Look up “cantilever” on Wikipedia and you’ll see why that’s a difficult engineering challenge. The mounting bracket must be totally rock-solid on the wall for this shelf to have any chance.For a 48″ shelf you might be able to use studs, but then the shelf placement is not your choice. I had to use drywall mounts. The ones provided looked unconvincing to me, and huge, besides. They would create multiple holes in my wall bigger than the diameter of a pen. I bought a box of 3/8″ drywall mounts and screws and attached the bracket with six of them. Yes, six. Two on the sides of each cantilever (top row of holes, the bottom is irrelevant) and one on each end to force the bracket flat. If the support rods are not completely rigid, the shelf will eventually pull away from the wall. Even then…On the plus side, the mounting bracket is flexible, because most walls are not perfectly flat and a stiff bracket would not work. Also, the mounting holes are wide ovals so you can slide the bracket slightly side to side for alignment before you tighten it down. That was especially useful in my case because I mounted the shelf up against a corner.The shelf is made of a hard plastic laminate over thin board, and is hollow, a good choice considering the weight problem. It supports all my Wi-Fi hubs and plugs but I wouldn’t put more than 10 lbs on this shelf. Certainly not a row of textbooks.It took longer than expected to get the shelf mounted properly because measuring and leveling the six drywall mounts was a chore, but it looks good and works fine. However, I recommend that you forget about trying to fool mother nature with a “floating” shelf and get one that has a vertical component such as triangle brackets on the ends, or a shelf shaped like a flat-bottom U.

We donât have room for a night table in our guest bedroom so this shelf was a perfect solution. Easy to install and sturdy. I bought a stud finder, as recommended in the instructions, and installed right into the studs. Very happy with the result.

We could have gone for the 12â as we had room. These are 10â. Also all the required screws were not included. Luckily my boyfriend was able to find adequate ones from his toolbox

So, if you are used to IKEA then you will be disappointed. The surface is not veneer, it’s plastic foil. The hardware is ultra-cheap. The manufacturing tolerances are very loose. Easy to mount but it will wobble by design because the rods are smaller than the holes and the screw holes don’t grab the rods, they just stick in a big hole, like a nail. So – useable but no joy – and far, far worse than IKEA.
