Product Overview

The Cuisinart Single Serve Coffee Maker + Coffee Grinder is engineered to deliver a personalized coffee experience with the convenience of fresh, on-demand grinding. Designed for individuals who appreciate the nuances of flavor and want full control over their brew, this all-in-one system combines a precision conical burr grinder with the innovative HomeBarista filter cup. Whether you’re using whole beans, pre-ground coffee, or your favorite single-serve pod, this machine adapts to your preferred method without compromising quality.

What sets this brewer apart is its ability to grind beans just before brewing, significantly reducing oxidation and preserving the rich oils and aromatic compounds that define exceptional coffee. This attention to timing and freshness appeals to home baristas and daily drinkers alike who want café-quality results in their own kitchens. The integrated design eliminates the need for separate grinders and drip machines, saving counter space while streamlining your morning routine.

Despite some variability in user experiences—including occasional reports of water leakage and mixed feedback on build materials—many customers praise its performance, especially when using compatible pods or maintaining consistent use. The flexibility to choose between three brew methods and three cup sizes makes it suitable not only for solo coffee lovers but also for shared households or small offices where preferences may differ.

Key Features

  • Built-In Conical Burr Grinder: Unlike blade grinders that crush rather than cut, the conical burr grinder produces a uniform particle size, ensuring even extraction and richer flavor. This mechanism grinds whole beans directly inside the machine at the optimal moment before brewing.
  • HomeBarista Reusable Filter Cup: This patented system allows seamless switching between whole beans (after grinding), pre-ground coffee, or standard single-serve pods. Its reusable design reduces waste and offers eco-friendly alternatives to disposable pods.
  • Three Ways to Brew: Choose how you want your coffee: freshly ground whole beans for maximum aroma, pre-ground coffee for speed, or insert any compatible single-serve pod for instant convenience. This versatility caters to different moods, schedules, and guest preferences.
  • Three Size Options: Select from small (8 oz), medium (10–12 oz), or large (14 oz) brew volumes, giving precise control over strength and serving size. Ideal for adjusting based on caffeine needs or sharing with others.
  • Compact Footprint: With a space-saving profile, it fits comfortably on narrow counters, kitchen islands, or in tight spaces like dorm rooms or RVs without sacrificing functionality or style.

Benefits & Use Cases

Coffee connoisseurs will appreciate the machine’s commitment to freshness and customization. By grinding beans immediately prior to brewing, it minimizes exposure to air and moisture—key factors that degrade flavor over time. This is particularly valuable for specialty coffees, single-origin beans, or blends with delicate profiles where subtlety matters. Users report more vibrant acidity, fuller body, and cleaner finish compared to brewed coffee made from stale pre-ground powder.

The HomeBarista filter’s dual compatibility extends the machine’s usefulness far beyond traditional Keurig-style systems. You can enjoy the ritual of manual brewing with whole beans while still having the option to use store-bought pods when short on time. This hybrid approach appeals to environmentally conscious consumers seeking to reduce plastic waste without sacrificing convenience.

In multi-person households or co-working spaces, the adjustable brew sizes ensure everyone gets exactly what they want—no guessing, no wasted cups. A light sleeper might opt for a small, strong shot; a guest preferring tea can easily switch to a pod-based brew without resetting the machine. The intuitive interface requires minimal learning curve, making it accessible even for those new to specialty coffee preparation.

For urban apartments, tiny homes, or RV lifestyles where every square inch counts, the Cuisinart Single Serve stands out as a practical solution. It replaces multiple appliances—grinder, drip maker, pod brewer—with one efficient unit that performs admirably across all modes. Maintenance remains straightforward: rinse the filter after each use and descale periodically to sustain peak performance.

Important Notes

  • Water Leakage Concerns: Several users have reported minor spills during operation, particularly if the HomeBarista cup isn’t seated correctly or if pods aren’t fully compressed. Ensuring proper alignment and using firm pressure when inserting pods can mitigate this issue.
  • Variable Build Perception: While some find the construction sturdy and aesthetically pleasing, others note inconsistencies in material quality or finish. These perceptions often depend on individual expectations and usage intensity.
  • Pod Compatibility: Performance with third-party pods varies. Well-fitting, standard-sized pods (like most K-Cups) work reliably, but irregularly shaped or oversized brands may cause leaks or poor extraction.
  • Included Accessories: The package contains the main unit, HomeBarista filter cup, and power cord. No additional tools such as cleaning brushes, measuring scoops, or water filters are provided—users may need to source these separately for optimal upkeep.
  • Maintenance Requirements: Regular cleaning of the grinder chute and drip tray prevents residue buildup and maintains hygiene. Descaling every few months helps prevent mineral deposits from affecting taste or function.

it operates as it should & no issues so far
I’ve had a multitude of different coffee makers, both pods and beans. The last one I had was a Tishcibo and I have to say it was the worst one I’ve ever encountered. It was very complicated if you wanted to get a quick cup of coffee, this one is very simple, very straightforward and it makes a great cup of coffee. It also was highly sensitive and things had to be just perfect or it wouldn’t work and it was most annoying. I don’t find that at all with this machine. It’s very straightforward and simple.it tends to be a quiet machine with the exception of the grinding, which I can’t complain about it all that’s a 15 second process. There are no coffee ground deposits in my cup. They do fly around when the grinding process is ongoing however, they give you a brush to make sure the pod that is holding the ground. The top is clean and you insert it clean and the coffee comes out ground free. There are some grounds that accumulated at the bottom but seriously over the course of several weeks it amounts to less than anyone needs to worry aboutI hope the salad workings of this machine continues. That’s why I went to a Cuisinart. I like the fact that you can grind your own beans and add a pod if you choose or guest chooses.

    Super convenient, great coffee
I’m really pleased with this purchase. I bought it largely to save counter space – which it does – but it turns out to be really easy to use and make great coffee. The only downside is the water reservoir and bean holder aren’t very big, so probably best for someone like me who only drinks a couple of cups a day (so I have to replenish the water about every other day). For me, it’s about perfect.

    One month review
Our Keurig gave out after several years of heavy use. We used a grinder for our beans and then put them into a reusable filter to make our coffee. So this coffee maker would clear up some space on our counters and keep grinding and brewing central. Here are my impressions one month in. For the sake of brevity I’ll keep comments brief.Coffee Taste:This thing makes great tasting coffee! I’ve enjoyed my coffee so much more with this maker.Quality of Build:Maker feels cheap with a lot of plastic so I am concerned about its longevity. I bought a warranty just in case.Reservoir:Only two people in our home and we find ourselves filling the reservoir often. It is much smaller than the previous Keurig we had.Grinder:This is the feature that should make this maker shine and some senses it does. Here are few insights:- The grind cannot be adjusted. However, I’ve found it to be perfect for a wonderful cup.- The motor housing comes up right in the middle of the hopper and takes up a lot of real estate. So it takes care to fill the hopper up without bouncing beans off of the motor housing onto the counter.- The amount of coffee ground is pre-determined with one touch but you can stop and start the grind with another push of the grind button if you wish to.It can be messy. Grounds do ‘jump’ out at times during the grinding. At times the amount of ground coffee is higher than the brim of the filter and it gets scraped off when removing the filter from under the grinder. The way I avoid this scraping off of grounds is to shake the filter during or after the grinding process to lower the level enough to avoid spillage. We have noticed when removing the tray from the platform that there is a lot of grounds loss underneath. I think this comes from the actual grinding process and also from what falls from the grinder’s mouth when the machine is bumped or moved. To clean up errant grounds we have a small Fantik handheld vacuum that we keep under a cabinet to quickly suck up any mess. This isn’t a big deal because the presence of any grinder is going to result in some grounds needing to be cleaned up every day. Here are some things I wish the maker had: an iced-coffee option, and a timer for auto on and off.All in all because of the great tasting coffee this machine makes, we are going to hold on to it.

Love the coffee maker, the reusable grounds pod…not so much.
I do like this coffee maker. I’ve been using k-cups for so long that I forgot how much better freshly ground coffee tastes. the process is pretty simple, just place the reusable pod holder in the ground chute, let it grind & then switch it over to the brewer side. The next part has become a bit of an adventure however. The lid on the pod holder for fresh grounds is really cheap & DOES NOT provide a good seal.As a result, I have had several blow-outs already where coffee & grounds leak out of the top & go everywhere. It is not a deal breaker for me & I am already looking for a better pod holder with a better lid that holds the grounds and coffee inside the pod.It is annoying that Cuisinart provides such a cheap & poorly designed part however. The lid hinge is just a piece of folded plastic & is not going to hold up to repeated use, let alone provide a seal against leakage.Improve that one part & you have yourself a perfect little coffee maker if you still want the convenience of single cup brewing but are ready to move on from K-cup pods.
