Product Overview

The Hamilton Beach 31190C Digital Display Countertop Convection Toaster Oven with Rotisserie is engineered to deliver the functionality of a full-size oven in a compact, space-saving design. Ideal for modern kitchens where counter space is at a premium, this appliance combines multiple cooking modes—toasting, baking, air frying, and convection—into one versatile unit. Its large 6-slice capacity allows users to prepare family-sized meals without sacrificing performance or convenience. The stainless steel exterior not only enhances durability but also adds a sleek, contemporary touch that complements any kitchen décor. Whether you’re reheating leftovers, baking cookies, or roasting a whole chicken, this toaster oven is built to handle a wide variety of everyday tasks with ease.

One of the standout features of this model is its integrated rotisserie system, which enables hands-free roasting of poultry and other meats. This ensures even browning and juicy results by continuously rotating food as it cooks, eliminating the need for constant monitoring or flipping. Coupled with convection technology, the oven circulates hot air throughout the interior to promote faster, more consistent cooking—reducing bake times while improving texture and color on baked goods and casseroles alike. Users particularly value the ability to use standard bakeware, making it a practical alternative to traditional ovens for smaller households or apartment living.

Key Features

  • Large 6-Slice Capacity: Designed to accommodate multiple slices of bread, full-sized baking pans, or even a medium-sized rotisserie chicken, this oven supports meal prep and entertaining without requiring multiple appliances.
  • Multiple Cooking Functions: Offers five distinct modes—toasting, baking, air frying, convection, and rotisserie—providing flexibility for everything from quick breakfasts to full-course dinners.
  • Convection Technology: Enhances heat distribution for faster cooking and improved browning; ideal for recipes that benefit from even airflow, such as cookies, pastries, and roasted vegetables.
  • Rotisserie Function: Includes a built-in rotisserie rod and heating element specifically designed for roasting whole chickens, turkeys, or other large cuts with minimal effort.
  • Digital Display Control: Features an intuitive interface with precise temperature settings (up to 450°F) and timer controls, allowing users to program exact cook times for optimal results.
  • Stainless Steel Finish: Resists smudges and fingerprints, maintaining a polished look over time and offering long-term resistance to wear and tear.

Benefits & Use Cases

This toaster oven excels in scenarios where efficiency, size, and multi-functionality are priorities. For families or roommates sharing a kitchen, it eliminates the need to juggle several appliances—replacing the need for a toaster, conventional oven, and air fryer all in one compact unit. The ability to bake standard-sized casserole dishes or roast a whole chicken using the rotisserie makes it especially valuable for home cooks who want restaurant-quality results without the space commitment.

The air fry mode is particularly useful for preparing crispy snacks like French fries, chicken wings, or vegetable bites with little to no oil, appealing to health-conscious users seeking lower-fat alternatives. Meanwhile, the convection setting accelerates cooking times and improves consistency across batches—perfect for baking cookies or reheating pizza with golden-crisp crusts. Even everyday tasks like bagel toasting or warming up frozen appetizers are simplified thanks to responsive heating elements and precise digital controls.

Many users appreciate how easily the oven fits into tight kitchen layouts while still delivering performance comparable to larger countertop models. Its glass door and interior lighting allow clear visibility during cooking, helping prevent undercooked or overdone dishes. Additionally, the removable crumb tray and non-stick interior surfaces make cleanup straightforward, reducing post-meal maintenance.

Important Notes

While the Hamilton Beach 31190C receives praise for its versatility and generous capacity, some customers have reported inconsistencies with certain functions. Specifically, the air fryer feature has been noted by several reviewers to produce less crisp results than expected, potentially due to limited airflow or placement of heating elements within the cavity. Similarly, convection performance varies among users—some find it highly effective, while others observe uneven browning or extended cook times when using this mode.

Another recurring feedback point involves the door hinge mechanism, which some owners describe as producing audible squeaks or rattles during operation. Although this does not affect cooking safety or functionality, it may be a consideration for noise-sensitive environments like small apartments or open-concept homes.

Temperature control opinions also differ among users; a subset of reviews suggest that the internal temperature may fluctuate slightly compared to dedicated ovens, so using an external thermometer for precision-critical recipes (like candy-making or sous-vide preparations) might be advisable. That said, most daily cooking tasks—such as roasting, baking, and reheating—are reportedly handled effectively within normal ranges.

It’s important to note that this product is intended solely for indoor countertop use and should never be operated unattended or near flammable materials. Always refer to the included instruction manual for setup, cleaning, and safety guidelines. Accessories typically included are the crumb tray, baking pan, broiling rack, rotisserie spit assembly, and drip pan—no additional attachments are provided beyond these standard components.

Despite minor operational quirks highlighted in user experiences, the Hamilton Beach 31190C remains a popular choice for those seeking a multifunctional, space-efficient oven capable of handling diverse meal needs. With thoughtful use and attention to reported limitations, it can serve as a reliable secondary oven or primary cooking appliance for small to medium-sized households.

IF I could give it 10 stars, I would!
It might help you to evaluate my assessment of this “toaster oven” if you know a bit more about who and why I’m writing this. When I was in my 20s, I had “Haute Ciisine” level chef training but found little attracition to “food as a business.” But I DO love food, innovative ways to present it, and REALLY creative ways to minimize the work while maximizing the results. And my kitchen was in need of updates because “Time waits for no one,” and it certainly has not waited for me *OR* my kitchen! My 10 year old Hamilton Beach toaster oven with rotisserie still workef, but it was abused by time and by me. So I searched Amazon for “convection countertop ovens with rotisserie.” WOW!!! LOOK WHAT I’VE BEENMISSING! So after much deliberation, I bought a $200 00+ upgrade with tons of Bells and Whistles that even included ab Add-On pizza stone! It was damaged in shipping but worked well enough to malfunction and totally cremate A pizza! I cherfully got my money back. Yay, Amazon! My quest continued. A SUPER oven with French doors, a rotisserie, AND a bonafidie charcoal air filter to carry away the smoke from the GRILL that actually sears in grill marks! The hell with price! THIS is my dream oven! Delivered the next morning! And so began a REAL nightmare! It took nearly an hour to unpack and “prep” it for first use, which required burning out the manufacturer’s chemical residue by running it for 20 minutes at 400F!!! The stench took another 20 minutes to die! But hey, let’s PLAY! In anticipation of this magic oven, I bought a New Zealand organic grassfed WAGYU BEEF chuck roast for the super bargain price of $80.00US! The rotiserrie will turn it into the world’s most succulant faux prime rib you’ve ever tasted! I prepped it with Himalayan sea salt flakes, threaded it on the rotisserie and… The rottisedie would not turn! I hurriedly searched the owners manual. NOTHING! With bitter disappointment, I rewrapped the roast, logged onto Amazon Shopping, and asked for a refund. So began a TRUE nightmare, but that’s another story. But NOW comes the TRUE MAGIC! It took a trip to the garage to remember the brand of my tired old oven. HAMILTON BEACH! And for a “measely” $90.00US! Is this for real? YES! And with a bit of ingenuity, it does a better job than ALL the rest. Here’s how:1. Large oven capacity accepts all traditional bakewear from two 9″ cakepans to yeast bread loaves to pizzas!2. Fabulous rotisserie results! From a flock of quails loaded shoulder to shoulder to a succulent roast checken, perfection every time!3. Perfect broiling! The day it arrived I broiled perfect Turkish ” Adana Kabab” using ground lamb and traditional spices (ask Google for the scratch recipe.)4. Drop dead deliscious pizza on my pizza stone! Crispy crust with lots of toppings!5. I even found a cast iron frying pan on Amazon with a removable grate that can be preheated in this oven to produce “real” grill marks on burgers or steaks, but if you own a REAL charcoal grill, why bother?6. PERFECT “Air Fryer” results with an air fryer basket! So my happy point here is that whether you’re an advanced cook or a beginner, this Hamilton Beach convection oven CAN and WILL do anything the bells and whistle ovens can do for a REASONABLE price.I will recieve no compensation for writing this I share it because I feel consumers have a right to FULL DISCLOSURE before they buy. I hope this helps. Enjoy!

Very Nice Toaster Oven with Lots of Features
The oven controls are very easy to use. Baking heat seems to be very evenly distributed. The air fryer feature performed poorly the one time I attempted to use it following the instructions on the food product. Have not tried to use the rotisserie feature yet. The toasting function works well. The only confusion factor is that the control panel shows a “pizza” icon and a “cupcake” icon. I could not decern a difference between the functions so I asked “Customer Service.” The only difference is that the default temperature for pizza is 400 degrees and the default temperature for the cupcake (baking) setting is 350 degrees. However, you can change the temperature setting for either one. The oven shows the actual temperature as the oven is preheating and beeps when the set temperature is reached. Overall, I’m very happy with this appliance.

    Perfect design for much more
This has been the go to oven for many reasons. Its size allows for cooking larger meals, baking quick breads and sweets that require larger pans, and that which a small toaster oven would not do. We regularly use it to make 2 regular 9″ tins of quick breads, at least once a week to broil, to make sals-cheese-chips, large garlic bread, and use the rotisserie for a chicken (which was a bit complicated for us). So, for larger meals, baking or larger food items you wouldn’t use needlessly in a large oven, this is a wonderful unit. May warrant 4.5-5 stars! But — for toast, bagels, English muffins, we bought a regular toaster which toasts things so much more quickly without wasting energy (this large toaster-oven is more of an oven as it takes a little half the programmed time to reach the target temperature set to cook the item — like the regular full size item)

    Annoyingly noisy
This toaster oven beeps when you plug it in, for every one minute increment you change the timer, for every 5° you change the temperature, when you select convection mode, when you turn off convection mode, it beeps when you turn the oven on, it beeps when you turn it off. It is the most annoying toaster oven I have ever had.Besides being incredibly annoying, it works OK. It certainly is not the hottest or fastest toaster oven in its price range.

Love My Hamilton Beach Toaster Oven
I have loved my Hamilton Beach 31190C since May, 2021. It has lived up to everything they said it could do. In fact, I haven’t used the oven of my stove since then because the 31190C does more. The only problem is in the description where it says “LARGE-CAPACITY OVEN WITH 3 RACKS”. My toaster oven only came with 1 rack. I would like to have just one more as I could certainly use two at a time. In fact, I have gone to Hamilton Beach’s site to check out the racks. They aren’t at all expensive, but the shipping costs much more than the racks or any accessories. I suppose the description was someone’s error, but still, I feel cheated.

    Don’t buy this unit
I rarely write a bad review for anything. If you can’t say something good, don’t say anything at all is my usual motto. But in this case, I purchased a useless box of metal. I tried for two months to get this thing to work (read cook) and it failed miserably. It starts with a terrible Operating Manual that leaves out most of the directions of it’s functionality. You literally have to unplug from the wall to start over every time you are punching buttons to get it going and you get it wrong. Tonight was the last straw. Put a couple sweet potatoes in it, set it for an hour at 450 and when it clicked off – they were uncooked. I can’t figure out why, bad temp gauge? heat escapes? who knows. The trouble isn’t worth it. The bad news – it’s outside the Amazon Return window. I have to eat the machine. Hope I saved you from making the same mistake.

I’ve been really impressed with the performance of this Hamilton Beach convection oven. It heats up quickly, cooks evenly, and the digital display is super easy to use. The rotisserie feature is a great bonus, especially for roasting chicken—it turns out perfectly every time! Although the oven is a bit larger than I expected, it takes up quite a bit of counter space, but the extra room inside means you can cook larger meals. Overall, it’s a fantastic appliance that’s super versatile for baking, roasting, and toasting. A great choice if you’re looking for something that can do it all!

The product is fine but not the most user friendly. I tried to get customer service using the phone number on the user guide only to find out that the only way to get in touch with them is by email. It is hard to get customer service to be specific on what types of cookware you can actually use since they will only tell you what not to use. CYA mentality I suppose…

Its spacious interior allows me to fit multiple items at once, saving me time. The digital display is user-friendly, allowing for precise temperature and time settings. What truly sets this oven apart is its even heat distribution, which is ideal for sublimation work. It’s tall enough to accommodate 20oz tumblers standing when you remove the removable rack! We use this daily and have had no issues with it at all. It replaced a more expensive oven. Simple to use even for my autistic daughter. Never tried the rotisserie. Would love an extra two inches of space but still very useful
