Product Overview
This Prime-Line D 1799 patio door roller replacement kit provides a reliable and economical solution for restoring smooth operation to sliding patio doors. Designed as a two-pack, the kit includes durable 1-1/2-inch diameter nylon concave ball bearing rollers that effectively replace worn or damaged components. Ideal for DIY home repairs, this kit allows you to fix common door issues without replacing the entire unit or hiring a professional. With five different axle installation options included, it offers flexibility to match your existing hardware and mounting system. Customers have reported consistent performance over nearly nine months of use, with many noting that the rollers eliminate sticking, noise, and misalignment caused by aging or weather-related wear.
Key Features
- Nylon Concave Ball Bearing Roller Design: Each roller is constructed from high-quality nylon with a grooved, concave surface that supports smooth rolling motion while reducing friction between the door panel and track.
- Durable Construction: The 1-1/2-inch diameter and 5/16-inch thickness provide robust support for standard patio door panels, ensuring stability during daily opening and closing operations.
- Universal Axle Compatibility: Includes a standard 1/4-inch axle hole, allowing the roller to fit securely into most common patio door roller housings and mounting brackets.
- Five Installation Methods Included: The kit provides five different axle attachment options—rivet, roll pin, drive pin, binder post with screw, and bolt with nut—so you can choose the method that best fits your current setup and tools.
- DIY-Friendly Repair Solution: Enables homeowners to complete repairs quickly and inexpensively without disassembling the entire door frame or purchasing new hardware.

Benefits & Use Cases
This replacement kit is specifically engineered for patio doors experiencing operational issues due to roller degradation. Over time, exposure to sun, moisture, and regular use can cause original rollers to crack, warp, or lose their ability to glide smoothly along the track. When your door becomes stiff, pulls to one side, makes grinding noises, or fails to stay aligned in its track, these nylon ball bearing rollers can restore full functionality by replacing only the faulty component.
The inclusion of five distinct axle choices ensures compatibility with a wide range of door models and installation styles. Whether your patio door uses a fixed bracket with riveted rollers, removable axles secured with pins, or threaded posts held by screws and nuts, the kit offers a suitable option for each scenario. This adaptability eliminates the need to search for matching hardware separately and reduces installation time.
Real-world testing shows that after almost nine months of regular use, the rollers maintain integrity without signs of cracking, deformation, or failure. Their consistent performance helps prevent further damage to the door frame or track, preserving the investment in your existing patio door. Many users appreciate that they were able to avoid costly replacements by opting for this straightforward repair, especially when access to the roller housing is limited or disassembly is complex.
The nylon material offers a balance of strength, durability, and reduced noise compared to metal rollers, which can sometimes scratch or wear down aluminum tracks. Its concave design enhances load distribution, supporting heavier door panels while maintaining smooth movement. This makes the kit particularly effective for double-hung patio doors or those used frequently in high-traffic areas.
Installation Tips & Important Notes
While the kit includes all necessary components for typical installations, successful replacement depends on proper preparation and alignment. Before beginning, ensure the roller housing is clean and free of debris or rust. If the existing roller is severely corroded or the housing is damaged, it may be necessary to lightly sand or adjust the mounting area for a snug fit.
When selecting an installation method, consider the structural integrity of your door frame and the tools available. For example, using a bolt and nut allows for easier future replacement, while a roll pin is quicker but may require drilling if not pre-drilled. Always secure the roller firmly to prevent wobbling or misalignment, which could lead to increased wear on the track or door panel.
Because the product is sold as a two-pack, it covers both sides of most standard patio doors. However, verify that your current roller dimensions and axle type match the specifications before purchasing. In rare cases where additional hardware is needed—such as longer bolts or custom rivets—you may need to source them separately. No specialized tools are required beyond basic hand tools like pliers, screwdrivers, or a drill depending on the installation method chosen.
Customers who have used this kit report high satisfaction with both build quality and value, often describing it as an excellent alternative to full door replacement. The ease of installation and immediate improvement in door operation make it a practical choice for maintenance and repair projects alike.

Track wheels, for sliding door
Our home was built in the 60’s I believe. I’ve not been able to find the manufacturer so it’s been tricky finding replacement parts, this seems to fit and work well, so far. Any failure I can see coming won’t be due to this item, would def be due to something on this dumb old door. These come with multiple different configuration choices to install these at, because they do vary by brand. What I’ve learned in the trek to update and replace parts for this sliding door, NOTHING IS UNIVERSAL! Yes it can be infuriating, but just be warned, if you’re not holding the original and matching up to the replacement, don’t even bother, it won’t fit.

Verify correct part before purchase
Was not the right wheel bearing for my door. Attempted to use and made the door more difficult to slide. I then found and reordered the correct metal wheel bearing of the same manufacturer. Hopefully those will ease use of the door and prevent us from continuing to rip the handle off the frame.

Easy to replace old ones
I purchased these to replace some old rollers that I couldn’t find. It took some time and ingenuity to drill the new holes and figure the correct highth but they worked great for a quick fix and spared the expense of a new door. The door moves smoothly now with no problem. If they wear out, it’ll be easier to replace. They’ve been in almost 9 months now and no problems.
