Ergonomic, airtight, see-through, easy pour lid!
This review is for the Rubbermaid Brilliance Airtight Cereal Food Storage Container, Shatterproof, BPA-Free and Dishwasher-Safe, 32oz Capacity. I am very impressed by this new version from Rubbermaid, it is better than the last version I am using, albeit the old version held 21 cups, and this version stores 18 cups. The Rubbermaid Brilliance Airtight Food Storage container, is first, has an easily to see through clear plastic, which is the brilliance. When I added the rice to the container, and put the lid on, the lid was easy to put on, and you could instantly hear the airtight seal. I purchased three of these and use them to hold the large bags of rice I buy at Costco, and oatmeal. Overall, I like this one better than my old 21 cup version because it is ergonomic, see-through, and more airtight than the last version, and has the benefits of an easy pour lid.

Best airtight container you can buy
I have accidentally become something of an expert in storageware. I live in the tropics, on the windward side of Oahu, essentially in the rain forest. We have humidity close to 100% year round, and everything that comes with it: mold, fungus, insects. After a bout with pantry moths, which required throwing away hundreds of dollars worth of food, cleaning and replacing shelf liners, etc…. I got serious about sealing everything up. I have bought literally dozens of containers. Most which describe themselves as “airtight” or waterproof, are not. I hate to say that we have gone through clearing everything out more than once…after bring home an infestation from a local health food store.I had one or two pieces from the Rubbermaid brilliance line and was really impressed with therm. It is crystal clear (even afte4r going through the dishwasher) and has what is effectively a vacuum seal. It not only keeps food feresh longer (in and out of the fridge) but it also keeps humidity and insects out. They are expensive, but they are also durable and very effective.When my husband brought home a 50 lb. bag of flour I searxched through my colection for large containers to store it in, not having room for a bag that size in the freezer. Flour does not do wel in a humid environment! I did not have enough airtight containers to put it all away, and so came back to Amazon to buy some more. After lots of searching I came back to the Rubbermaid brilliance collection. I already knew it was the best (to include OXO, which Amazon lists as the best). I beg to differ. OXO was very good, but the new line is not as good as the old, in terms of keeping things dry.All that said, this was purchased for flour, but it really is not large enough if you are trying to store a large bag. It will not fit a 5 lb. bag of flour (in or out of the bag). It will, however, fit a 5 lb. bag of sprouting seeds, perfectly! I wish there were a way to link this on the page for those seeds because it works so well. That is another thing which is quickly spoiled if wet. This is doing a great job of keeping them dry, and looks nice nough to leave on the counter.
