Lies!!! Not 850 Watt, however it’s pretty amazing!
First thing to point out is the complete lie in the description. I purchased this to install in my of grid RV. I have my own solar power and as such I’m always looking for lower power consumption appliances. I love the dual functionality of this oven but the stated power draw is way lower than actual. My system has circuit monitoring so I get real time usage. This microwave pulls 1650 Watts of power rendering it useless in my setup unless I’m plugged into the grid. I love the way it looks, the function, and the cost for function is excellent when compared to the market. I just wish I could use it when boondocking without worrying about power consumption. I need to point out that I’m rating the microwave itself for functionality, controls, looks, and ease of install. Buyer beware that no new microwave is set up for venting, they’re always set up for recirculation. I had to uninstall, flip the fan, and reinstall to get the vent to work properly.

Drop-in Replacement for the old R-1870
Our old R-1870 model in our motorhome was a tad under 30″ wide, and the Amazon listing says that the stainless steel R-1874 is 32.9 x 19.3 x 18.3 inches, while the white and bisque models are 29.9 x 16.3 x 15.3 inches. The measurements listed for the stainless steel model are actually the measurements for the shipping box. The unit itself slips right into the space for our old R-1870.We have been traveling full time in this motorhome, with this oven, since it was new eight years ago. This is the only oven in the coach. The oven has given us excellent service over those eight years. We had a problem in 2007 in which the oven would run for exactly 59 seconds before shutting down. It’s a common problem with the unit and is caused by a failure of an inexpensive part, either the damper motor or the damper motor switch. We finally had to replace the oven this month when it broke down and needed $380 in repairs. It heats evenly, as long as there is room for the turntable to turn. When using a cookie sheet that’s too big to rotate, you really need to turn it every few minutes to get even convection cooking. The Sensor Reheat function works very well, except for liquids. Since it senses steam to determine that the food is reheated, that function will always boil liquids. The “Broil” setting doesn’t really broil; it simply runs the convection function continuously. It took half an hour to “broil” some tomatillos last time I used that setting. For a convection/microwave oven, it is about as good as you can get. It doesn’t really replace a conventional oven, but unless you’re an RVer like us, you probably don’t need it to.

Greatest Appliance Ever Made!!
Best In EVERYTHING. Used this very same appliance in an older model while living in a relative’s motorhome. Used it for about ten years and I cried when I built my new house and couldn’t use that wonderful appliance any longer. Had all new appliances, but I didn’t know that Sharp also made these for home use as well. I thought it was strictly an appliance made for RV motorhome kitchens. So dummy me got the closest thing I could find to Sharp’s Convection/Microwave in a Frigidaire brand. So, I got my dream double oven from Frigidaire as well. BOTH BIG MISTAKES!! Finally found out that I CAN have a wonderful, beautiful, awesome perfect Sharp Convection/Microwave just like the old one I loved for so many years. Needless to say, I bought one ASAP and I have been thrilled once again. Wish Sharp also made the double oven of my dreams. If they did, I would rip that other POS out and buy a Sharp in that appliance too. Sharp Convection/Microwaves are the ABSOLUTE BEST APPLIANCES EVER!! In fact, my review today is not even for those two Sharps I already mentioned. In fact, THIS review is for the newest Sharp Convection/Microwave oven I purchased last September for the same relative whose old RV I used to live in. As he now owns a newer old motorhome, he needed to replace the …you guessed it….Sharp Convection/Microwave it alreadyhad that was falling apart from so much use. So, naturally, we replaced it with another wonderful Sharp Convection/Microwave oven. And, it is purring like a kitten!! You can cook ANYTHING in these babies and it will come out perfect every single time. The touchscreen are extremely intuitive, well laid out, easy to customize. I have personally bake and roasted whole chickens, stuffed chickens, pork loins, cakes, cookies, brownies, casseroles, grilledvegetables. Grill the quickest, easiest, best tasting fresh salmon steaks in it with no mess to clean up afterwards!! Also has an awesome cookbook that has numerous pictures and detailed explanations in it as to all of its capabilities. Plus, the operating manual is written by pros!! Everything in plain English. Great photos, guidance, and recipes.

We are living in our motor home and the microwave is the only oven we have. We had a GE combination microwave, convection and regular oven and loved it but it quit working after 14 years and itâs not available anymore. A lot of other brands claim microwave and convection but are just a microwave with a fan. They wonât roast or bake or grill like your regular oven does but the sharp does.
