Product Overview
The TOSHIBA Countertop Microwave Oven Air Fryer Combo represents the next generation of compact kitchen innovation, blending microwave efficiency with full convection and air frying capabilities in a single sleek unit. As part of the renowned TOSHIBA MASTER Series, this appliance is engineered for modern living—whether you’re cooking in a small apartment, dorm room, or busy family kitchen. Its premium build and thoughtful design make it both a functional workhorse and a stylish addition to any countertop.
What truly sets this model apart is its ability to handle a wide range of cooking tasks with precision and ease. From reheating leftovers to baking a cake or crisping chicken wings, the combination of inverter technology, convection heating, and dedicated air fry mode ensures consistent, restaurant-quality results every time. With smart features like humidity sensing and preset auto menus, meal prep becomes faster, more intuitive, and less guesswork-driven.
Key Features & Capabilities
- Inverter Technology: Unlike standard microwaves that cycle power on and off (which can cause hot spots and uneven cooking), this model uses inverter technology to deliver steady, precise energy throughout the cooking cycle. This means better texture retention, safer defrosting, and superior control—especially important when broiling or using convection functions.
- Dual Convection & Air Fry System: The microwave offers true convection cooking, not just simulated browning or crisping. Press the Convection button to activate, then use the control knob to set your desired temperature (up to 450°F) and timer. Whether you’re roasting vegetables, baking cookies, or air frying fries, both modes perform equally well—just adjust settings based on your recipe needs.
- Humidity Sensor Intelligence: One of the most advanced features in a countertop microwave, the built-in humidity sensor monitors internal moisture levels during cooking. It automatically extends or reduces cook time to prevent overcooking or drying out delicate foods like fish or casseroles. This is especially useful for dishes where timing is critical.
- Mute Function for Quiet Operation: Designed with shared living spaces in mind, the mute function silences all beeping sounds during operation. Perfect for late-night snacks or early morning meals without disturbing others.
- 30 Preset Auto Menus + 47 Recipe Options: Access quick-cook programs labeled A1, A2, H1, H2, and beyond—covering everything from popcorn and pizza to potatoes, cakes, and more. These presets are pre-programmed with optimized time and power levels, but you can also customize them if needed. Menu codes are clearly listed on the oven door or included manual for easy reference.
- Speedy Combi Mode: Combine microwave and convection heat simultaneously for rapid, even cooking. Ideal for reheating large meals while maintaining crispness on the surface—great for frozen pizzas or leftover lasagna.
- Even Defrost Technology: No more partially cooked edges or mushy centers. The intelligent defrost system analyzes food weight and type (via input or default assumptions) to thaw evenly without starting to cook the outer layers first.
- Durable Cooling System: Built-in ventilation prevents overheating during extended use. The cooling fan may continue running for up to three minutes after cooking ends—this is normal and helps maintain optimal performance over time.
- Improved Control Panel Design: While core functionality remains consistent with older models, Toshiba has refined the layout of certain buttons for clearer visibility and easier operation. All major functions—microwave, convection, air fry, timer, and power—are still accessible via intuitive controls.
- Customizable Cooking Workflow: To tailor your own recipes: select Convection (for air fry or roast), dial in temperature and duration using the rotary knob, then press it again to confirm and start. Repeat steps as needed for multi-stage cooking.
- Program Management Controls: Need to pause or stop mid-cycle? Simply press Stop/Cancel once to pause; resume by turning the main switch knob. To fully cancel and reset, press Stop/Cancel twice. This gives you full flexibility during long cooks.

Fantastic oven!
This is our first multi-function microwave and we are loving it!After about a month of use, here are my pros and cons:Pros:Small footprint – This is the same size as our smaller microwave was and is able to fit in our very small kitchen.Quiet – This is the quietest microwave I have ever used. When my wife is heating up her coffee in the morning, I am unable to hear it running from 15 feet away. It is louder when using the convection/air fry mode because of the fan, but that just brings it up to normal microwave levels (or less)Versatility – We have used all of the modes and it is amazing what can be cooked/reheated in this thing. Being able to microwave something, then air fry something else without swapping out appliances is fantastic.Usability – The buttons are clearly labeled and the knob is intuitive. I also like being able to turn the beeps off when I am using it at night.Cons:Hot surface – We were used to keeping some things on top of our old microwave, but since this one is also a convection oven/fryer, it can get hot on the top when frying things. It also needs a bit more room on the sides and back for air flow, which makes sense for cooling.Cooking codes – The codes for what mode to use (A01 = popcorn, A02 = beverage, etc…) are inside the door and written very small, so trying to read them is difficult. We memorized the ones we use the most.Confusing ‘combo’ instructions – There is a ‘combo’ mode which is supposed to use both microwave and convection cooking and it says the tray and rack are OK to use, but you can’t use them with microwaving…which breaks my brain a little bit. Looking online it seems many other people feel the same confusion.TLDR: We absolutely love this oven. It is able to quickly and quietly do microwave tasks as well as cook up frozen fries or wontons (or perfect little potatoes!). Highly recommended.

Versatile Space saver
It took me four tries to finally get the right combo unit. Firstly, I have limited counter space. I wanted an airfryer originally. Got one but it had peculiar issues I was not expecting or what happens when you mix molded plastic with high heat. Decided that the unit I buy must be all metal with limited use of plastics both for recycling latter on and reducing BPA contamination. That’s when I decided to look at the combi function appliances. Setting this as the prequel to my review for the purpose of contexting my following comments on this unit. I want to make it obvious That this item has limitation many of which have been written in previous reviews. Had , I had a bigger counter , more space ,etc. I would have made my kitchen gadgetry demands and purchases quite different.Pros’This unit does indeed do all that it is asked to do. It has plenty of power (Wattage) to serve all functions. It is well built , good looking on the counter takes less space than my old microwave. The microwave wattage is larger than my previous one so it does better than my old one. The unit produces no unwanted odors. It has smaller clearance valve to other objects and walls than most of the others, another important factor in my decision. The benefit of the combi functions where I can microwave and airfryer ( convection) or broil at the same time. This is a huge time saver in cooking while at the same time giving a higher desired result than just microwaving food. Personally , I would love to have bought the 1.6 cu ft. the 4 in 0ne model instead , but its size was still to big for my counter. Overall I am extremely pleased and would indeed recommend.Cons’Most who have read the reviews with this model will hear some of the same things regarding this unit> Alas, No mechanical device is perfect either by design or omission for the sake of trying to do to much with one item. So, yes the presets and the controls are a complete boondoggle to the mind and renders simplicity of use to the back of the line. I actually wasn’t originally going to buy this, because of this fact alone, and did in fact try another model, one of my many tries. It was one of the highest rated and most expensive one. But it was a clunker to me and didn’t at all appear to be built to last, I returned it quickly without a second thought. The number of combinations this unit has for cooking I guess just makes difficult for any controller to be easy and I assume they all suffer in this way. It is manageable and I am gradually gaining confidence in selecting the right combinations of pushes and selections to match my own desired cooking results.Other than this unit is operates flawlessly. Is easy to use and keep clean. I will address one other concern or flaw that some have commented on, “the moisture build up” . Indeed , if one does not pay attention this does indeed happen. It is a minor issue, INMO, that is easily remedied by leaving the door open after using the unit for about 10 mins. It does not happen all the time and is only the result of certain cooking functions and types of food being cooked ( mostly liquid beverages or soups and Microwaving). I assume somehow that this unit has an interior insulating blanket or mat to keep the outside metal from becoming to hot. I am guessing it also inadvertently creates a moisture barrier for the inside. As stated it is only relevant to to easily comprehensible cooking functions and types of food/ beverage which are understood immediately and one knows to not close door after this use and allow for unit to air out. Much like modern washing machines require that the door be left ajar.Overall a great purchase worth the money spent. Thanks.

Bought from third party seller as âlike newâ for $457 and the microwave worked very well until it died 3 months later within the claimed 6-mo guarantee.Amazon would not help; Seller never responded for refund request.I reached out to Toshiba; 2 weeks later… to no avail; still waiting for resolution after providing documentation and proof. I have never experienced such unprofessional customer service. All three involved dropped the ball big time. So people, let that be a lesson and do not ever buy big electronics.
